A man who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two boys who were between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the defendant continued to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five children.
